In 2015, El Salvador was the most violent country in the Western Hemisphere. Last year it was listed as one of the safest countries on the planet.
Why: President Naive Bukere cracked the gang and built a huge prison to hold their members forever.
But Bukel's anti-crime campaign has done more than making El Salvador safer. He made the country safer than Europe's top tourist destinations, the US State Department travel advisory shows. As Europe has imported criminal and terrorist “immigrants” over the years and lost them on the streets, El Salvador throws members of its native-born gang. He is currently considered a terrorist and is scheduled for expulsion under President Donald Trump's executive order.
Violent from peaceful travel advisories
The story of El Salvador's transformation may be traced to 2015.
“El Salvador ended the year with at least 6,640 murders,” reported Insight Crime, citing La Prensa Gráfica.
The horrifying statistics represent a 70% increase over the 2014 murders, giving the country a murder rate of 104.2 per 100,000 residents, the report says.
El Salvador accounts for 13.6% of Central America's population, but 35.3% of Central America's murders, the report added.
The violence came to mind the weekend of March 25-27, 2022, when the gangs killed 87 people. Bukel declared an emergency and began cracking down on him. Approximately 600 gang members have been arrested. By June, the total had reached 43,000, Reuters reported. In the same month, gang members on 18th Avenue killed three police officers. Bukere vowed to vengeance. This includes sending prison prisoners to destroy the gang leader's gravestones. The Associated Press reported that 56,000 gang members had been in custody by November.
All of these arrests ended with a significantly reduced crime. “The Salvadorans spoke to a sense of 'liberation' that was rounded up,” reported Atlantic author Gisela Salim Peyer. “They no longer needed to show their IDs to gang members when they went to visit relatives in another town. They discovered new freedoms like Barhopping on the night of San Salvador.”
So has the State Department changed its travel consultation on April 8th to level 1?
“Gang activity has declined over the past three years,” the advisor says. “This has reduced violent crimes and murders.” Federal employees are free to travel, but with the exception of El Salvador's international airport, it is still prohibited to travel widely at night.
The advisory acknowledges Bukere's declaration of “state of exceptions.”
In 2024, the Gallup Global Safety Report listed El Salvador among the top 10 countries in the country that “people feel safest when walking alone.”
Similarly, the same poll rated El Salvador more than the US with the statute and order index 89-81.

European terrorist warning
Meanwhile, over the past two years, the US State Department has raised its recommendations in seven European countries due to terrorism.
On July 26, 2023, France and Belgium received a Level 2 recommendation.
“Terrorist groups continue to plot possible attacks in Belgium,” the recommendation states:
Terrorists may attack with little or no warning and can target tourist locations, transport hubs, markets/shopping malls, local government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, worship services, parks, major sports, music, cultural events, educational institutions, airports and other public areas.
The French advisory sounds like a warning before entering the Warzone.
“Incidences such as pickpockets and phone snatches occur frequently, and can occur anywhere, especially in airports, train stations, subways, trains, and in crowded areas, and in close proximity to tourists,” the advisory said.
Peaceful demonstrations and strikes in Paris and other cities across France regularly occur, potentially disrupting transportation. In rare cases, the demonstrations included violence and property damage, and police responded with water cannons and tear gas.
Last year, recommendations for Italy, Spain, Germany and the UK likewise recommended exercising “increased attention” due to the possibility of terrorist attacks. Another Level 2 country: once Safe Sweden.
All countries have one thing in common. Mass imports of Islamic “immigrants” are bent towards demographic conquests of the West, snatching the population morale with fear, crime and mass rape. In the UK, Muslim grooming gangs have raped more than 250,000 British girls. On the Great Ve Days of 2015-2016, Arabs and North Africans assaulted and/or raped more than 1,200 women in more than 12 cities in Germany. In France, “immigrants” celebrate the New Year by burning hundreds of cars. In 2025, approximately 1,000 vehicles were in flames.
The terrorist attacks included last year's attacks involving Saudi citizens who cultivated marketers in Magdeburg, Germany, that killed 11 people.
In June 2017, three ISIS terrorists plowed pedestrians on the London Bridge, fled the vehicle and stabbed to the stab wounds, killing eight people and injuring 48.
In 2016, Tunisian “asylum seekers” drove a semi-trailer truck to the Berlin Christmas market. He killed 12 people and injured 56 people. Police killed him in a shootout in Milan, Italy. ISIS argued that it was responsible for the mass murder.
Also, in 2016, Tunisians plowed a 19 tonne cargo truck into a revelry on Bastille Day in Nice, France. He murdered 86 and injured 434.
