The pro-Harris hosts of the CBS vice presidential debate not only failed to check a single fact about immigration.
They answered another question asking whether Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is President Joe Biden's “border czar.” U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance said she is. CBS said otherwise. And CBS reported the false claim despite its own reporting on Biden's appointment of a vice president of Indian-Jamaican descent.
Similarly, when far-left Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Vance discussed the invasion of Springfield, Ohio by Haitian Biden “immigrants,” the hosts failed to fact-check one of Vance's claims.
Nor did they ask Waltz about his radical social beliefs, especially his delusion that boys also menstruate.
false fact check
CBS fact-checked Vance's Border Emperor claims in an X post about an hour after midnight on October 2nd, and included them in the next morning's roundup.
“During the vice presidential debate, Sen. J.D. Vance claimed that Vice President Harris was 'appointed border czar,'” the network claimed. “CBS News Confirmed rates this false.”
The full fact-checking article provides “details” such as:
Vice President Kamala Harris is not asked to be the administration's “border czar” or oversee immigration policy and enforcement at the U.S.-Mexico border. This was primarily the responsibility of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and his department, which oversees the country's three main immigration agencies, including Customs and Border Protection.
President Biden has tasked Harris with leading the administration's diplomatic campaign to address the “root causes” of poverty, corruption and violence among immigrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. …
In fact, Roberta Jacobson, a longtime diplomat who served as coordinator of the Southwest border until April 2021, held a role close to “border czar” under the Biden administration for only a few months. .
CBS ignored not only its own reporting on Harris' appointment, but also that of other mainstream left-wing media outlets.
A March 24, 2021, CBS report headline said, “Harris leads government effort to stop migrants at border.” CBS reporter Camilo Montoya Galvez contributed to this article and also wrote the fact check.
“President Biden has appointed Vice President Kamala Harris as border czar,” a CBS reporter said in a video posted to X.
False claims in the media
Left-wing media outlets have been falsely claiming since at least July that Harris is not a border czar.
While all the major networks and other media outlets, including the New York Times, argued that Harris was never a border czar, perhaps the most entertaining attempt to rewrite history came from Axios.
“While the Trump campaign and the Republican Party have repeatedly labeled Harris with the title 'border czar,' she never actually held that title,” website X said. The reader attached a note and a link to the Axios article: “Axios previously reported that Kamala Harris was appointed Border Czar on April 14 and March 24, 2021.”
On July 25, 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives condemned Harris for failing as border czar.
The host cancels Vance's correction.
As the New American reported yesterday, during the controversy over Springfield's invasion of Haiti, Vance observed that “millions of illegal immigrants… are competing with Americans for scarce homes.” “I just want to be clear for the viewers,” host Margaret Brennan interrupted, before Brennan said: Quoting the Bible, Walz said, “Springfield, Ohio, has a large number of Haitian immigrants with legal status. Temporary protected status.”
Vance corrected Brennan. The Biden administration's CBP One mobile app allows illegal aliens to obtain permission to enter the country before leaving their homes. Vance explained:
Riding the wave of Kamala Harris' open borders wand, people can continue to operate as illegal immigrants and be granted legal status by applying for asylum or parole. It's not someone who comes into the country, applies for a green card and waits for 10 years. …That is the promotion of illegal immigration, Margaret, by our own leadership. And Kamala Harris led the way.
Waltz replied: “Those laws have been on the books since 1990.”
When Vance corrected Waltz, the host cut off the microphone.
CBP apps haven't been published since 1990. This was created by Kamala Harris, Margaret.
Mr. Brennan thanked Mr. Vance for “explaining the legal process,” but did not admit that Mr. Walz was completely wrong. There was no fact-checking by CBS about X, nor was there a fact-checking by the station the next morning.

But failing to correct Mr. Walz about the falsehoods in the CBP app is just one of the moderators' sins of omission.
They also failed to ask tough questions about his radical social policies as governor of Minnesota, which would have shown the American public how far they had fallen into the swamp of waltzing leftist frenzy. .
Last year, Walz signed a bill requiring schools to provide menstrual products “to all menstruating students in restrooms regularly used by the student.”
This will include boys.
Also last year, he signed a “trans refugee” bill to “protect the rights” of “transgender” children to “gender-affirming care.”
The law allows doctors to provide such “care” to children who have “fled” from states that prohibit it.
“Gender-affirming care” is code for the “trans” lobby, which administers hormones of the opposite sex to children and then mutilates them with “gender-reassignment” surgery.
And Walz is strangely unfazed by the half-naked gay daycare workers who yell abuse at children during the Minneapolis Gay Pride parade.
This year's edition featured the North Star Kennel Club, a sadomasochistic gang whose parade participants wore dog masks, collars and harnesses.
The hosts also ignored Mr. Walz's close ties to Islamic radicals and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, an unindicted co-conspirator in a federal lawsuit against the Holy Land Relief and Development Foundation. In 2008, the foundation and its leaders were convicted of providing aid to Hamas.
