An FBI whistleblower told a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee this week that the FBI was trying to give the agency the full story of what happened during a largely peaceful protest at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. said he retaliated against him.
Marcus Allen, a former staff affairs specialist, told the Judiciary Committee's Select Subcommittee on Federal Weaponization that he provided open source information that did not match the department's account of the protests.
The agency accused Allen of being disloyal to the United States, revoked his security clearance and suspended him without pay for more than two years.
Weaponized FBI
Allen's ordeal, a former Marine who served in Iraq, began on Sept. 29, 2021, when he emailed colleagues at the bureau about the presence of a confidential FBI informant at the Jan. 6 protest. It started with an email, Tristan Leavitt of Empower Oversight wrote in a Sept. 19 letter to subcommittee chairman Jim Jordan.
“This email alerted colleagues to the testimony that Director Wray (Christopher) provided to Congress and expressed concerns about its accuracy based on personal knowledge of cases that Mr. Allen assisted in the field office.” wrote Mr. Levitt.
The FBI immediately launched a classified investigation under the guise of “loyalty to the United States” and quelled the boom. The agency concluded that Mr. Allen may be an “insider threat.” That's not only because of emails and text messages in which Allen said the FBI was unfairly prosecuting protesters, but most of all because of his “vaccine hesitancy” for the China virus.
It wasn't until May 31 that the agency relented and reinstated Allen's top-secret clearance.
Mr. Allen testified before the subcommittee in June and told his story again this week.
When he wrote an email to warn his superiors about Mr. Ray's possible false testimony, he testified that he was “simply doing his job.”
However, “the FBI accused me of promoting 'conspiracy views' and 'unreliable information'” and “questioned my loyalty to the United States, had my security clearance suspended, and had my salary removed.” Charity was suspended and refused to obtain or even accept outside employment. ”
Mr. Allen continued:
The suspension ultimately lasted 27 months. Meanwhile, the FBI held my family and I in custody indefinitely, awaiting a final decision. Imagine the daily anxiety of providing for your family, the emotional strain of explaining to your children why their father can't work, the stress of trying to figure out how to cover medical bills or keep a roof over your head.
Determined not to lose our home, my wife and I took early withdrawals from our retirement accounts to survive.
Allen concluded that “the FBI, with its unlimited resources, was trying to destroy me financially and force me to give up.”
“Delusion” about being Catholic
Horrifyingly, one top investigator thought Allen's Catholic faith was grounds for revoking his security clearance.
Allen, who was last interviewed about the email issue on May 26, 2022, said he sent the email to warn Ray about his testimony because he felt morally obligated to do so. Leavitt also explained in a letter to Jordan that the Holy Spirit guided his decision.
An alarm bell rang in the station. Acting Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Bertoli said Allen was “delusional in citing his religious beliefs rather than secular, moral, and ethical reasons for disclosing wrongdoing,” Levitt wrote. Ta. In other words, Mr. Allen's Catholic faith “was grounds for revoking access to classified information,” which means that “an FBI employee's protected First Amendment religious beliefs may not interfere with the classified information processing process.” “caused an unconstitutional infection.''
Incidentally, Veltri is leading the investigation into the second assassination attempt on the former president. In November, the Washington Times reported that a whistleblower told the House Judiciary Committee that Veltri “scrutinized his Facebook page and made anti-Trump comments before he was promoted to head the bureau's Miami field office.” It was reported that he was ordered to delete the “. Mr. Bertolli is “adamantly and vocally anti-Trump,” the whistleblower said.
In his letter to Jordan, Levitt said Bertolli also revoked the permit of an employee who questioned the 2020 election because the employee “does not believe in the Constitution of the United States.” The Times reported that Mr. Veltri “oversaw an effort to suspend security screening of agents if they appeared to be 'right-wing extremists.'”
Allen addressed Veltri during his testimony, quoting Matthew 12:31:
I recently learned about Jeffrey Veltri's comments suggesting that I am delusional for believing in the Holy Spirit and seeking His guidance. Mr. Bertolli, who currently serves as special agent in charge of the Miami field office, was at the time a security executive who oversaw security clearance decisions. I would like to speak to Mr. Veltri. Sir, you may despise and insult me if you wish, but you should not mock God. It is an affront to the infinite dignity of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and is bad for the health of the soul (Matthew 12:31).
Aside from Veltri, Allen noted that another FBI whistleblower has not had his clearance reinstated. Garrett O'Boyle was falsely accused of leaking information to the media. In fact, Mr. Leavitt sent a letter to Jordan, and Mr. O'Boyle disclosed the whistleblower-protected information to Congress. The department vindictively revoked Mr. O'Boyle's permit on the day he began his new assignment after moving across the country.
Mr. Allen and Mr. O'Boyle are just two of many FBI employees whose permits have been revoked. In May, a report by the Justice Department's inspector general found that the department regularly revoked security clearances in retaliation against whistleblowers. The New York Post reported that a senior FBI official falsely told the House Judiciary Committee that the agency was not doing that.
“I have no confidence that the FBI will rein in its own conduct,” Allen told the committee, adding that the agency used “retaliation and fear to control its employees.”
