Oran Routh, the son of Ryan Wesley Routh, a suspect in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, will be known for more than just confirming the hatred his father, Ryan Routh, harbored for the 45th president.
Federal agents arrested Routh on child pornography charges, which depict the sexual abuse and statutory rape of girls between the ages of 6 and 14.
Orlan Routh was arrested on Monday, the day before a federal grand jury indicted his father on charges of attempting to assassinate President Trump, according to ABC News.
9-21 Search
Trouble for the long-haired Routh began on Sept. 21 when the FBI searched his two-bedroom rental home in Greensboro, North Carolina “in connection with an unrelated investigation into child exploitation,” suggesting that agents found obscene material while searching for evidence related to the Ryan Routh investigation.
The next day, investigators obtained a warrant to search Routh's smartphone.
Investigators found “multiple electronic devices” linked to Routh, including a Samsung Galaxy Note 9. When turned on, it displayed a message with Routh's email address and a reward for returning the phone to Routh.
“A search of the SD card located within the device revealed it contained hundreds of child pornography files,” the complaint alleges.
The files contain a known series of child pornography videos produced outside of North Carolina that depict minors engaging in sexual acts, including videos of adult men engaging in oral sex, vaginal intercourse and anal sex with prepubescent females approximately 8-10 years old.
Investigators recovered a second Galaxy Note 9 from Routh, which contained videos of women and girls approximately 6 to 8 years old engaging in oral sex. The device also contained “chat messages from messaging apps commonly used by individuals who distribute or receive child pornography.”
The complaint states that a July 24 chat featured an “individual” who “advertised the sale of cloud storage links.” The individual then sent the “user of device 2” a video that showed a man having sex with a girl approximately 12 to 14 years old, which constitutes statutory rape.
Another video shows the woman performing oral sex on a girl who is approximately 6 to 8 years old.
In the United States, 16 is the youngest age for consenting to sexual activity with an adult.
Routh is charged with receiving and possessing child pornography, which carries a fine and a possible prison sentence of five to 20 years for a first offense.
Is TDS a Routh family trait?
The brother, Routh, who sometimes sports a beard and is hairy, shot to public attention hours after their father was arrested in connection with the attempted assassination of President Trump.
The Daily Mail tracked him down and asked him some questions.
Like his father, Routh appears to be suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
He said on his website that his father disliked Trump “as any reasonable person would”.
“I don't like Trump either,” he added.
Continued, Routh:
He's my dad, but as far as I know, he's only had a couple of traffic tickets. It's funny, because I know my dad very well and I love him, but that's just not who he is.
Routh said on his website that the pair had a “fallen out” and “became estranged”.
But the interview also revealed the possibility that Routh may have been lying, given his lengthy criminal history.
“He's not a violent person,” Routh told the website. “He's a hard worker, he's a great father. He's a great guy, a good person and he's worked his whole life.”
His brother, Routh, said he didn't know if his father owned a gun, adding, “I never heard of him owning a gun or doing something horrible like this.”
That's not true.
When Orlan Routh was about 15, his father armed himself with a machine gun and barricaded himself in a building in Greensboro, North Carolina, during a three-hour standoff with police. The crime was much more serious than “a few traffic tickets.”
The website features “disjointed” writings from Oran Raus suggesting that what parents say is not what parents should say.
I hate this game that plays out every four years, and I think we all do, and if my dad wants to be a martyr for how broken this process is and how divorced it is from real problems and practical solutions, that's his choice.
I'm not saying that's what he did or what he thought, this is just something I've been sick of and complaining about for my entire adult life.
As South Park so well put it, every four years we have to choose between a poop sandwich and a giant douche, and everything ends up being messed up to varying degrees in the same way, leaving us exhausted and embarrassed.
Other evidence suggesting the son may have tried to cover up his father's crimes is found in his father's book, Ukraine's Unwinnable War. In that largely forgotten work of literature, Ryan Routh advocated for Trump's assassination. But perhaps Oran Routh never read the book. Or perhaps those who knew him and read it never bothered to tell him that his father had proposed assassinating the 45th president.
