As expected, Tesla tycoon Elon Musk will serve as chairman of the Government Efficiency Commission, which will curb fraud, waste and corruption, former president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced today.
Speaking at the Economic Club of New York, Trump also proposed a steep cut in corporate tax rates, with companies that manufacture goods in the US paying a 15% rate.
An America First manufacturing policy would not only benefit patriotic companies, but it would also punish globalist corporations that lay off American workers to outsource jobs overseas, who would not get corporate tax cuts.
Meanwhile, Trump used the word “communism” again, calling Vice President Kamala Harris' far-left policies “communism.”
Biden destroyed the economy
Trump began his speech with extensive attacks on President Joe Biden and Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
The former president recounted damage after damage caused by the Biden economy: “Over the past 12 months, 1.3 million workers have lost their jobs,” he said, “and record inflation has caused the typical American family to lose $28,000.”
More than 30 percent of Americans report maxing out their credit cards, and a family needs an income of about $110,000 to buy a “typical home,” he said.
“Gas prices, grocery prices, electricity prices, mortgage rates and pretty much everything else have gone up 30 to 100 percent since I left office,” he continued, while 8.4 million Americans are working second jobs, “the most in more than 30 years.”
Black and Hispanic wages are falling, and to make matters worse, Biden's “immigrant” invaders on the southwest border are taking their jobs.
“Nobody talks about it, but I'm not going to let that happen,” he said.
“Harris wants to pursue four more years of far-left policies that pose a fundamental threat to the prosperity of every American family and our country itself,” Trump said.
Noting that Harris has proposed open borders, a ban on fracking, defunding the police, ending private health insurance and other outlandish policies, he called her policies “communism.”
“We're going to stop this from happening,” Trump said.
It is time to bring Comrade Kamala Harris home to California, where Communism is the past, freedom is the future, crime is rampant, and flight is the primary occupation.
Trump to Musk: You're hired
In appointing Musk to head the Efficiency Commission, Trump noted that the CEOs of SpaceX and SpaceX had recommended Musk as a candidate for president.
“I will establish a Commission on Government Efficiency tasked with conducting a full financial and performance audit of the entire federal government and recommending fundamental reforms,” Trump said.
We need to get it done. We can't continue like this. And Elon has agreed to lead that task force.
President Trump said hundreds of billions of dollars of federal taxpayer money have been wasted on fraud and improper payments in 2022. The committee's first job will be to eliminate that waste, fraud and abuse within six months.
“This is sorely needed,” Musk wrote to X after the speech.
America First Tax and Tariff Plan
Regarding his America First tax and tariff plan, President Trump would expand the research and development tax credit and reduce the corporate tax rate from 21% to 15%, but “only for companies that manufacture products in the United States.”
Products must be manufactured in the United States. If you outsource, offshore, or replace American workers, you will no longer be eligible for these benefits. In fact, if products manufactured in other countries are imported from other countries, you will pay very high tariffs. There will be big tariffs on those products. Because we want to make our products in the United States. Most of our products can be manufactured in the United States. My message is simple: Only manufacture your products in the United States. We will not be exploited anymore. …
We will not stand by and watch as our wealth and jobs are stolen and shipped overseas, as has happened for decades.
Reich Smoke
Make no mistake, the left is infuriated by Musk's appointment and President Trump's America First tax and tariff policies.
A prime example is President Bill Clinton's Treasury Secretary Robert Reich, who wants Musk arrested for allowing free speech on a social media platform that happens to be owned by him.
“Of course,” Reich wrote in his hateful Musk rage, “entrust our nation's safety and security to a man known for exploding cars and rockets and collapsing social media platforms. What could possibly go wrong?”
And Reich really hates President Trump's America First tax and tariff plan.
“He has no plan to actually make child care more affordable,” Reich fumed at X.
But he has plans to impose flat tariffs on imported goods that would lead to massive price increases that would hurt everyone except the super-rich.
Of course, Reich doesn't explain why workers who are laid off because a company has shipped jobs overseas can buy from those same companies. That aside, he's one of the totalitarians who want Musk in jail. In fact, he was one of three Guardian reporters who nearly called for his incarceration.
Reich yelled that Musk was “out of control,” The New American reported.
His enormous wealth has quickly transformed into a vast source of unaccountable political power that now supports Trump and other authoritarians around the world.
Trump could appoint Musk to run the efficiency committee, leading Reich to argue that the two would “rule together” if Trump wins a second term, making Musk a kind of co-president.
But to make matters worse, he said Musk “supports right-wing causes around the world” and supports and retweets the “lies” of “provocateurs” who spread hate and misinformation.
Boycotting X and Tesla won't be enough to stop Madman Musk, Reich writes.
Regulators around the world should threaten to arrest Musk if he doesn't stop spreading lies and hatred about X.
