Oklahoma State Senator Dusty Devers has introduced a bill that would allow employees to receive wages in Bitcoin and businesses to accept payments in Bitcoin.
Commenting on the Bitcoin Freedom Act, Devers said, “Bitcoin offers a unique opportunity to protect income and investments as inflation erodes the purchasing power of hard-working Oklahomans.”
Devers continued: “As Bitcoin continues to rise and the value of dollars continues to be printed in Washington, D.C., the state of Oklahoma must act to protect its citizens.”
The bill, known as SB325, states in Article 4: “Employees, businesses, businesses, other entities, and residents of this state may negotiate and receive payments and compensation, including salaries, wages, and other forms of compensation,” in Bitcoin. . ”

Devers noted that Bitcoin is increasingly seen as a hedge against inflation, unlike traditional currencies such as the US dollar. Devers posted to X: “If Washington, D.C. can mess something up, it probably will. And it's certainly ruining the US dollar.”

Devers also praised President-elect Donald Trump, who spoke at a Bitcoin event during the presidential campaign.
“Bitcoin has reached the mainstream of our economy and is undoubtedly an important part of the future of finance,” he added.
The Bitcoin Freedom Act is eligible for consideration in the 60th Congress, which begins on February 3rd.
