If you thought the newly elected “transgender woman” to the U.S. Congress was a joke, there's another story. A non-binary City Council member in Worcester, Massachusetts, will take a month off from work after being “misgendered.”
Mr Thu Nguyen, a Vietnamese non-binary man, claims three of his fellow MPs committed horrific crimes and that one of them called him a 'culprit'.
Nguyen's declaration that he would avoid election duty for 30 days comes after a recent meeting in which Nguyen announced he felt “unsafe” as the council debated the appropriateness of members attending meetings remotely. This was in response to the Nguyen is one of those members.
first meeting
The safety issue apparently began with an investigation into the city council's innocence over remote attendance at meetings. That means participating through cyberspace through applications such as Zoom.
According to the Worcester Telegram, “After an order was filed by Mayor Joseph M. Petty asking the City Council and Legislative Operations Committee to hold a public hearing to consider the limits and options for remote participation of public employees.” The city council, made up of three members, discussed the issue, the report said. reported (the paper used grammatically incorrect pronouns to avoid offending Nguyen and other confused people).
Mr. Petty filed a related order asking the commission to investigate the conduct of other municipal officials during the meeting.
Grand Councilor Thu Nguyen received the first order to address their frequent remote attendance.
They reiterated that they do not violate any rules when attending meetings remotely.
“Mr. Chairman, under your leadership, I have felt unsafe around this council institution,” Nguyen said. “I have faced transphobia by being misgendered and recently learned that I have been dehumanized to the point of being called ‘it’ by my colleagues on this council.
“I would have liked to have felt safe in this chamber, but that is not the case.”
The ink on that issue of the Telegram didn't dry, and just hours later, the newspaper reported that Nguyen, who is non-binary, was regrouping and planning to go on “hiatus” to recover from the insensitivity of his fellow senators.
Trump's fault
Of course, Nguyen couldn't help but attack President-elect Trump in a statement posted on her Facebook page.
“As a member of the Worcester City Council, I had to file a complaint with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as the transition under the Trump administration and the fear experienced by the LGBTQ+ community increased exponentially. I'm sorry.'' My experience over the past three years of dealing with transphobia and a discriminatory and toxic council culture, including my recent knowledge of being publicly misgendered by Mayor Petty and Councilman Toomey in the City Council chambers. About experience. 2nd District Congressman Melo Carlson has called me 'it' over and over again,” Nguyen said furiously.
Nguyen said “LGBTQ+ people” have been subjected to a continuing wave of “hate,” “violence” and “physical threats” across the country, with an “overall amount” of 700 deaths since Nov. 5. It falsely claimed that the percentage had increased sharply.
Well, the woman had to take a month off because hatred had seeped into Worcester when she woke up, she continued. Of course she was really “sad” about it, but continued:
We also regret to announce that we are taking a month to prioritize our own mental and emotional safety and use this time to chart a course to address this issue. We need your help to hold Worcester to moral and legal standards, but it really feels like the least we can do. We need a government that welcomes, accepts, and takes pride in the LGBTQ+ community. As the first non-binary person elected in Massachusetts, I have always said that identity politics is not the only issue. Making history in the first place is one thing, but what you do with it is another. By speaking out against transphobia and hate, I hope you will join me in pushing for a political reimagining of government that holistically cares for and serves everyone, rightfully including the LGBTQ+ community.
To her credit, Ms. Nguyen posted a statement from City Councilor Candy Mello Carlson who let the non-binary cat out of the bag.
Rep. Candy doesn't remember being “misgendered.” But “it is no secret that Councilman Nguyen and I have different approaches to public service,” she wrote.
This year, Councilmember Nguyen has the lowest attendance rate of any City Council member, in sharp contrast to my near-perfect attendance and attendance at meetings and events across the city almost every night.
formal apology
Mr. Toomey confessed that he had “misgendered” her and apologized to Ms. Nguyen as atonement for his grave sin.
Petty explained that an incident from three years ago “made her mad” at Nguyen.
Today's council member is referring to the moment at the 2022 City Council meeting where I momentarily addressed a council member by the wrong pronoun. As soon as it was pointed out, I corrected the mistake and apologized.
Regardless, the Bay State's “LGBTQ+'' fruit and nut lobbying group, Mass Quality, has called for a “formal public apology to Councilor Nguyen and urges the city to implement lasting change.” , he said.
This includes comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training for the City Council and other city officials, and ensuring that no one, especially members of marginalized communities like Councilor Nguyen, face discrimination or bias in the future. It should include structural reforms to make this happen.
It's all because Gwen felt “dangerous” and “offended” because of her “gender difference.” Or, as Petty said, she may be furious that a co-worker chastised her for attending too many meetings remotely.
Petty said, The Telegram reported.
I make no apologies for holding myself and my colleagues accountable for the responsibilities entrusted to them by the people we serve. Being available, accessible and engaged is a fundamental expectation of our role and is critical to the success of our city.
Nguyen's first name, Thu, is a female name from her native Vietnam, and she doesn't worry much about hurting others.
TikTok X's Libs feed featured a photo of Nguyen wearing a T-shirt with the hateful message: “Paying for people's abortions is a revolutionary political act.”
Will you come to Congress?
It's unclear when madness will overtake the Capitol. But if that happens, South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace will be ready.
When Delaware sent McBridge, a man and a woman, to Congress, Mace quickly moved to bar him from the women's restroom.
He also introduced legislation that would define men and women and ban men from women's restrooms in all federal facilities.
Wisely, House Speaker Mike Johnson listened. Men are not allowed to use women's restrooms, including those pretending to be women.
