Stocks and other traditional financial asset traders around the world want to be able to buy and sell assets around the clock, and two largest US stock markets, NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), quickly began offering 24-hour trading.
“There's no doubt this is where the market is moving,” said Zianbuy, head of Nasdaq's US equity and exchange-selling products, speaking at the Digital Assets Summit in New York on Thursday. “There is a lot of demand for US stocks all over the world, and people want to trade within the time they are usually waking up, and I think a lot of that is because people are used to trading 24/7 with crypto.”
NASDAQ and NYSE are in the process of obtaining approval to open the venue 5, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 24 hours a day, and even venues. NASDAQ recently announced that it has begun to engage with regulators regarding changes while the NYSE is already green light.
A 24-hour trading can bring several advantages to the market, such as increased volume and market liquidity, as traders are not tied to a specific time zone. Currently, the US stock market is opened for trading at 9:30am ET and is closed at 4pm ET.
“We hear all about global broker dealers, even within the US, who serve them all. Our customers are used to crypto trading at that time, so there are already a lot of US brokers offering overnight trading,” Bui added.
NASDAQ lists cryptographic related products including ISHARES BITCOIN TRUST (IBIT). This is a SPOT ETF published by BlackRock, and we saw the most successful ETF debut in the history of US ETF launches. Today, the exchange listed two Solana (Sol) Futures ETFs issued by Volatility Stocks.
