Hatred is like darkness. For this reason, the object of hatred is not clearly recognized, and is depicted in a darker colour than the most shadowy depression of its soul. Anti-American rage is no exception. Why, hearing the crowd of hateful Americans, you will think our country is not the best land on this side of heaven, but the hell on earth.
But there are advocates in the United States. And one of them lives in Boots (Italy) and wants to give them boots to anti-Americans.
Michele San Pietro describes himself as “a 60-year-old Italian who loves America.” He has visited our country five times, he says, which would be higher if his budget was allowed.
Above all, St. Peter appreciates our constitution and understands that our political system will remain intact for almost 250 years. As for anti-Americanism, he points out that it exists both in the US and overseas.
Absurd hatred
The problem is also getting worse. As I recently reported, two of the three generations of Zers believe America is an unfair society. Naturally, 40% of them claim that our founder is “better described as a villain than a hero.” These are beliefs that correlate with anti-Americanism.
St. Peter laments that. As he writes to American thinkers today, hinting at anti-Donald Trump sentiment:
A disgust towards politicians does not justify merciless hatred towards one's own country.
Unfortunately, we know that it is caused by unrelenting hatred towards such people. Therefore, any kind of hatred should be avoided. Because it is a false and dangerous hatred.
…Today, you just have to look at the Facebook page (invented by Americans) and understand how much of an unbearable boolean anti-Americanism exists. It certainly is a degenerate of a few, and most of them know nothing about the US, but therefore the issue should not be underestimated. Give them an inch and they take a mile. Unfortunately, such anti-American keyboard lions can barely find anyone who contradicts them. Even Americans don't respond very much. The vast majority love their country, but they know it's not perfect and tend to think it's legal to criticize it.
We can't mag unless we're dicked
St. Peter is right about even “good” Americans often failing to protect their country. At least they're confused and sometimes co-co. This is incredible considering how much America has to recommend to her. For example, St. Peter believes in the United States in Italian freedom, which is a good place to start.
Being the sole owner of atomic weapons after World War II, we were able to conquer the world. Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union, and all empires in history, certainly have.
We didn't.
Instead, we spent money to bring the former enemies back to their feet before spreading their wings over them. It is an incredible departure from historical norms.
In fact, almost all common anti-American raps are Risable. We did not invent slavery, but we inherited it. Then, along with other Western countries, we eliminated it. We did not create abuse of human rights. We have developed gold standards that can be identified as human rights abuse. The list goes on, but I won't. The problem is not primarily a lack of fact, but rather a misguided feeling. And if we do magazine, we must do mara: make your attitude realistic again.
In this regard, we should not protect America. It's defensive. Rather, they should attack for America. “The best defense is a good offense.”
Stop by “not perfect” business
One of the first steps is to stop the pain, even St. Peter, to emphasize that “America is not perfect.” why? story:
I spent a lot of time with a few nephews. They were homeschooled at the time and lived in the hinterland, so my parents and I (when I was) were their whole world. Well, they had a lot of questions like kids, of course. Then one day, five older boys at the time posed and replied, “I don't know.” He looked at me, surprised and said, “Really?!” I was clearly respected as omniscient.
Growing up now, he takes it for granted that Uncle Selwin doesn't know everything. It is a characteristic of adults to instinctively understand that no one else from God is perfect and that he does nothing. There's no need to mention it. And what does that emphasize?
Now, imagine you have opened a speech about your mother. I, if that guarantees emphasis, she must be quite accused.
The irony here is that it is the most imperfect in America. And they need to quote Jesus.
It is clear that you first remove the board from your own eyes, then remove the spots from the brother's eyes.
If you find the perfect country, don't go there. So it stops being.
True Patriotism
The truth of another attitude is related to patriotism. And philosopher goalkeeper Chesterton spoke while criticizing the patriotism of famous writer Rudyard Kipling. As Chesterton wrote in Kipling, the heretic in the 1905 book
I admire Britain, but he doesn't love her. We admire things for a reason, but we love them for no reason. He praises Britain not because she is English, but because she is strong.
clearly. If you love your mother, this won't stop because she causes some serious problems, even if they are moral failure. But you might cry for her.
This takes us to our home country. If we want to love America and increase our love for her, we need to create something more lovable here. This begins and actually ends by cultivating in ourselves a virtue, namely “good moral habits,” and encouraging others to do so. (See here or here.) A good start is avoiding curses and holiness. Vulgarity and sexualization are today's major issues.
Also, if you don't have a country, but only a “country”, then it's hard to love your country. A nation is an extension of the tribe, and in itself an extension of the family. In other words, we must stop Balkanization through destructive immigration policies. This is cautious – and prudence is a virtue.
That's true of love. Deny love's hatred, and let this happen within you. Whether you love it or not, if you hate something, be assured: you probably haven't seen it clearly.
