Former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, passed away yesterday, and a national day of mourning will be observed on January 9th. The ailing president entered hospice care 22 months ago at his home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100, the longest he could have lived. A living president in American history.
But he will probably never receive a completely honest account of his life. For example, in his last public appearance he became an election denier. He falsely claimed that President-elect Donald Trump did not actually win the 2016 election. During his time in office, the former president also had ties to Peoples Temple cult leader and mass murderer Jim Jones.
Although he was a man of significant personal accomplishments, he was a failure as president. His first term ended with soaring mortgage rates, a harrowing mission to rescue American hostages in Iran, and the beginning of 12 years of Republican rule with Ronald Reagan in the White House. That's how it ended.
The situation in the country is dire.
Carter, a graduate of the Naval Academy, defeated incumbent Gerald Ford in a debate in the 1976 presidential election. Mr. Ford made the false claim that “Soviet control of Eastern Europe does not exist and never will exist under the Ford administration.'' And “Poles consider themselves to be controlled by the Soviet Union,” Ford said.
This gaffe gave Carter the White House and left the country with a weak and incompetent president.
Under the Ford administration, mortgage rates approached 10%, but President Carter raised rates to 11.2% in 1979 and 13.74% the following year. In 1981, even though the public was still reeling from Carter's policies, his approval rating rose to 16.63 percent.
In addition to these high inflation rates, Mr. Carter also achieved an average annual inflation rate of 9.9%.
In July 1979, Carter gave his infamous “Fatigue” speech.
Dire situation abroad
When it comes to foreign policy, Mr. Carter was able to take credit for three disasters. He imposed sanctions to overthrow the white minority government, turning once-productive Rhodesia into a Marxist wasteland called Zimbabwe.
The Africa-Business.com website states: “Zimbabwe, for example, has one of the most fertile lands on the African continent and was considered Africa's breadbasket, exporting wheat, tobacco and maize to other parts of the continent. Beyond, however, Until a few years ago, most of the agriculture was in the hands of white farmers, 4,000 of whom owned almost 70 percent of Zimbabwe's fertile land.
Carter supported Marxist Robert Mugabe and his revolutionaries, but Mugabe quickly destroyed the country's economy and turned it into a net food importer.
President Carter also cut off military aid to Nicaragua in an effort to weaken President Anastasio Somoza, who had helped the communist Sandinista revolutionaries come to power in 1979.
But perhaps most damaging to his presidency was the failed mission to rescue American hostages in Iran. On November 4, 1979, Iranian student revolutionaries stormed the embassy and took 63 people hostage, 10 of whom were released in late November.
With the acquisition, ABC's Ted Koppel's nightly reporting became Nightline.
On April 16, Carter authorized Operation Eagle Claw, a joint operation by all four armies. It was released eight days later.
“Operation Eagle Claw saw eight U.S. Navy RH-53D Sea Stallion helicopters take off from the deck of the U.S. aircraft carrier Nimitz in the Arabian Sea for a 600-mile journey to rendezvous with six aircraft in the Iranian desert. -130 transport aircraft,” explains the Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum.
The aircraft encountered a haboob, a violent wind-driven sandstorm common in the desert. This caused extreme visibility problems, aircraft damage, and crew illness. President Carter and his staff received the news and decided to cancel the mission.
As the unit prepared to depart, an RH-53D helicopter collided with a C-130 carrying additional fuel for refueling, causing a fire and killing five airmen and three Marines.
Just as Ford's debate gaffe gave Carter the White House, so Carter's ultimate failure gave the White House to Reagan.
Mr. Carter has packed his administration with the globalist deep state, including National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bilderberg Group. He was the founder of the Trilateral Commission.
Carter's most important accomplishment may be the creation of Black Music Month.
Link to Jim Jones
One aspect of Carter's political career that is not covered by the fervent encomium of the far-left mainstream media is his relationship with the phony faith healer and “miracle” performer Jim Jones, the fanatical founder of the communist Peoples Temple Church of Christ. This is the relationship.
Jones wrote a letter to Rosalynn Carter in 1977 asking for medical aid to Cuba. The first lady responded with a handwritten note.
Harvey Milk, a San Francisco politician and gay rapist, sent a letter to the president and three members of Congress in February 1978, calling out his supposed smear campaign against Jones and his temple, which he relocated to Guyana in 1974. I asked for help to stop it. Willie Brown, Speaker of the California House of Representatives, helped boost Vice President Kamala Harris' political career.
“It is important here to detail the role played by Rosalynn Carter, wife of President Jimmy Carter. She traveled to San Francisco with then vice presidential candidate Walter Mondale during the 1976 campaign. ''I fell in love with Jim Jones,'' the Jonestown page on the San Diego State University website explains.
She spoke from Mr. Jones' pulpit and had a private dinner with him at an upscale restaurant in San Francisco. After that, the two continued to correspond by letter. Rosalyn was clearly fascinated by Jones. Therefore, it is logical to assume that she praised Jones in subsequent conversations with her husband after he took office. And years later, when he received that letter from Harvey Milk, he was sure to recall fond memories of his wife, Jones.
On November 18, 1978, Jones and his gang of thugs murdered U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan and two journalists who had gone to Guyana to investigate Temple activities.
After these murders, Jones induced approximately 900 of his followers to drink Flavor Aid laced with cyanide. Those who refused were given an injection. Jones committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
After becoming president
After leaving the White House, Carter became a global humanitarian and peacebuilder, building homes for the poor through Habitat for Humanity to his honor.
Unfortunately, in 2019, Mr. Carter joined the election deniers and falsely stated that Mr. Trump was an “illegitimate president.”
“If fully investigated, we will find that (Russian election interference) did not actually help Mr. Trump win the 2016 election,” Carter said. “He lost the election and became president because Russia interfered on his behalf.”
