BAKU, Azerbaijan — A giant fake sperm whale, reeking of rotting fish, lies on the shores of the Caspian Sea during the United Nations COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. The exhibit, created by Belgian artists and activists Captain Boomer Collective, was set up to add to the drama surrounding the United Nations event, with actors dressed as scientists pretending to collect biological samples. The degree of completion was high. New American senior editor Alex Newman said that in addition to the two whale “researchers” behind this stunt, they are also involved in a lawsuit to save whales from the devastating effects of wind turbines along the coast. I spoke with Craig Rucker, president of CFACT.org. Despite the showmanship of those concerned about climate change, President Donald Trump's mandate victory appears to signal a retreat from spending billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars on combating global warming. The darkness of the COP29 summit is emphasized. One of the “scientists” behind the exhibit said he hoped people would “use their heads”.
