The government efficiency team led by Tesla CEO (Doge, not the official US government division), is reportedly moving to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
A Reuters report on March 28th revealed that Musk's doge team contacted the SEC and was told they would be given access to the committee's system and data. The agency reportedly planned to establish a liaison team and work with the “efficiency” team, and its intentions were not immediately clear.
“Our intention is to partner with DOGE representatives to cooperate with requests according to the usual processes of ethical requirements, IT security or systems training, and establish the need to know before granting access to restricted systems and data.”
After becoming president of the United States in January, Donald Trump signed an executive order that allowed Doge to implement cost-cutting measures, insisting on efforts to “save taxpayers money.” However, many of Musk's efforts, including attempting to fire staff from US International Development Agency or USAID, have faced federal court cases from parties who argue that Doge's actions are illegal or unconstitutional, including closing the Watchdog Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
This is a developing story, and more information will be added as it becomes available.
