America is one month away from the once-in-a-lifetime election. Both the left and the right perceive their opponents as an existential threat, but they are far apart when it comes to the need for electoral security.
Republican voters across the country are organizing and applying legal pressure to clean up voter rolls, ensure election transparency and prevent illegal voters from voting. Their major obstacle is the Democratic Party.
georgia
In Georgia, the state Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee are suing the Georgia Board of Elections over three rules recently enacted to curb election fraud. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney heard arguments on two of the rules Tuesday.
The first rule requires election officials to conduct a “reasonable investigation” into the accuracy of election results before certifying them. The second rule allows individual county election board members to inspect all documents produced during the conduct of an election. The third rule requires three separate individuals in each voting precinct in Georgia to manually count ballots and certify election results before the county deadline. There are 2,400 precincts.
Judge McBurney said Tuesday that the “reasonable inquiry” rule is “ambiguous on its face and in need of clarification.”
As for the second rule, Democrats say it will delay certification. (This is coming from a political party that turned election night into election month.) Mr. McBurney disagreed.
“It seems like a permissive rule, but I have a hard time understanding how this creates uncertainty for anyone, since access is allowed but doesn't obligate anyone to do anything.” “It says you can, but it doesn't mean you have to,” the judge said.
The judge told both sides that the results would need to be certified by the deadline anyway. he said: “A deadline is a deadline. Let's do what we can. What is reasonable for one person may not be reasonable for another. But when you inquire, on November 12th at 5 p.m. It will be resolved.”
Oregon
Meanwhile, on Oregon's West Coast, at least 1,259 non-citizen voters were identified during an audit. House Administration Committee Chairman Brian Still (R-Wis.) and Rep. Lori Chavez Delemer (R-Ore.) are calling on the state of Oregon to answer why this happened. I'm looking for it.
According to the Washington Examiner,
For nearly a decade, Oregon has automatically registered people to vote by obtaining or renewing a driver's license or state ID and not yet voting. However, the law changed in 2021 after the state Legislature allowed illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses.
DMV Secretary Amy Joyce said earlier this month that the agency had a two-step process for verifying license applicants with U.S. passports or birth certificates after a non-referendum error was revealed. He said he added a third stage of the process.
