I think the man protests too much.
This twist on Shakespeare's line may come to mind as you ponder Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Darrin Bell's stories. Bell is known for his anti-Trump cartoons, which depict the president as a vile sex offender. And, as one critic has written, he often characterizes conservatives generally as “sex offenders, or people with a bizarre obsession with the sexuality of children.” With this in mind, the following may seem poetic.
Bell was arrested last Wednesday on charges of possessing 134 child pornography videos and AI-generated child pornography.
Wow, who saw that coming?
(That is, except for those who have some knowledge of the projected tendencies of a particular ideological group.)
Additionally, if convicted, Mr. Bell would become the latest in a long line of leftists to commit sexual misconduct.
Newsweek magazine reported on the matter as follows:
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that Darrin Lawrence Bell, 49, is suspected of having more than 130 sexual abuse videos connected to his online accounts.
According to Pulitzer's website, Bell (pictured below) is a nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist who “denounces lies, hypocrisy, fraud, and disenfranchisement amid the political turmoil surrounding the Trump administration.” “We tackled issues that affect communities affected by the pandemic.”
Charles Schulz: “He's different.''
Although very loud, Bell is reminiscent of the failed liberal radio network Air America, better at ridiculing than entertaining. The following sample of his work, courtesy of commentator Andrea Widberg, makes this clear.
Message: Bell stands against the sexualization of children as exemplified by the Drag Queen Story Hour and other sexual evolution initiatives. tell?
Next up is the video below. Apparently, this is why it won the Pulitzer Prize today.
And similarly, something like this:
Then there are classy pieces like this:
Ironically, the above is close to what Joe Biden habitually does. It's inappropriate touching of young girls and sniffing their hair.
Additionally, some inspired works include:
Yes, that's right, some on the left advocate lowering the age of consent to 14, so 17 must be veteran status.
Of course, we don't know what Bell's age of consent is. However, a law enforcement press release follows for those interested in known details about his arrest.
left wing creature
To be fair, Bell has not yet been convicted. Widberg emphasized that whether he is a pedophile is “for the evidence and the jury to decide.” But “one thing we know for sure,” she added. “He's not a nice person.”
That said, internet commenters were quick to mention what they thought were relevant. X user “DannyGloves” joked, “Not all Democratic voters are ped@s, but all ped@s are Democratic voters.”
Echoing this, fellow respondent Squiffy wrote, “I'm starting to wonder if there are leftists who aren't pedophiles.”
And X poster Scott Cullen said, “The Democrats' (') predictions turned out to be true like clockwork.”
But isn't this just partisan bias? Is there really a link between political affiliation, or more importantly, ideological leanings, and being sexually distorted?
An ideology of vice?
Evidence may indeed suggest this. In fact, many Democrats are descendants of advocates of sexual devolution and today are advocates of sexual devolution themselves. This, along with generally lax “moral views”, helps explain why perhaps 90% of those who engaged in sexual misconduct through the #MeToo movement were left-wing.
It might also explain a particular article from 2013 that was very thought-provoking. The title read, “Many researchers have different views on pedophilia.'' “Pedophilia was once thought to be caused by psychological influences in childhood,” the subheading added. “Many experts now see this as a deep-rooted condition that will not change.”
If that wasn't enough, the article also approvingly quotes someone saying that an individual's pedophilia is “as essential as the person next door's heterosexuality.” So where was this published? Was it National Review?
American conservatives?
Daily caller?
A new standard?
It was actually the left-wing (then far-left) Los Angeles Times. And as I explained in “Slippery Slope to Pedophilia,” this paper is not an anomaly. There is an effort to normalize pedophilia, and it is a left-wing effort.
That the left might be worse people should not surprise author Peter Schweitzer. After all, in 2008 he wrote, “Don't listen to liberals — new research shows right-wingers are actually better people.'' Schweitzer explains this phenomenon as, “Politics influences the way we live our lives.'' But in reality, this is mistaking correlation for causation.
root cause
It is said that “politics is downstream from culture.” What is less understood is that a person's politics is downstream from his or her own personal culture. This itself is downstream of his spiritual, moral and philosophical foundations.
In other words, politics doesn't really influence how you live your life (although everything can). That said, the deeper realms mentioned above influence your politics and the way you live your life.
In this regard, the ancient Greek philosopher Plato wrote about how a person becomes such a being. He emphasized the importance of early socialization, saying that children should be raised in an atmosphere of nobility and grace. This creates an emotional attachment to virtue in young children. This is the only kind that young children can develop, since they are still too young to understand virtue intellectually. However, once this attachment becomes a reality, the adolescent has a more properly formed emotional foundation. And when he reaches the age of reason, he will be more willing to accept the commands of reason, since his emotions will not contradict them.
However, unfortunately, it is still easy for a child to develop an emotional attachment to vices. (After all, anything left unchecked naturally tends toward anarchy.) Today's popular culture itself is moving toward this end. And once this attachment exists, the person will become completely irrational when he reaches the age of maturity of reason.
Generally speaking, this type of person, whose soul is dark due to sin, is drawn to an equally dark ideology. For example, Marxism in Russia in 1917, Nazism in Germany in 1933, and what we today call “leftism.”
In short, people with sinful attachments come to accept a worldview that helps justify them. Every time and everywhere there are ideologues eager to achieve this pseudo-immunity to votes and power.
