British schools are suspending and banishing students, including preschoolers, because they are transphobic or homophobic, a trend that author J.K. Rowling calls “totalitarian madness.”
Telegraph said on Monday, according to Department of Education (DFE) statistics.
The 94 students at the state elementary school were suspended or permanently excluded from 2022-23 due to transphobia and homophobia.
These included three students from the first to second to third to third to third years, when the maximum age was seven years.
In addition, one or four-year-olds have been suspended due to “abuse of sexual orientation and gender identity.”
DFE data did not name either the school or the child, nor did it include details regarding the alleged crimes of preschool children. Telegraph columnist Celia Walden meditated:
Did he or she call a female classmate “girl”? Did they ask Mr. Davis, a teacher of the arts of expression, why he was wearing a skirt and asking Michael Hall's red theme (decorating the parable of trance as a children's story where red pencils identify as blue)?
A sane reaction
Perhaps young children just have more common sense than adults teach. They know the difference between boys and girls, and when teachers try to blur the lines or make students move socially, children respond with distrust and lightly empty.
Just as Rowling put it on x on Monday:
This is totalitarian insanity. If you think that little kids should be punished for being able to recognize sex, then you should not be near your children, and you are a dangerous enthusiast who is not in an authority position against them.
Others were equally furious.
Helen Joyce, advocacy director at Sex Patters, a London-based organization that is fighting Trans Agenda, told The Telegraph:
Sometimes the extremes of gender ideology cast incredibly crazy stories, with infants suspended from nursery due to so-called “transphobia” or homophobia being one such example.
The important early education of children is not tolerated to be extremely traumatically confused by school leaders who prioritize activists' demands over the happiness of their accusations.
“We've been working hard to get into the world,” said Young Lord, director of the London-based Free Speech Union.
The school believes it is suspending five young children to violate the “transphobia” policy. If your ideology is very strict, you would have thought it would justify punishing your infant for not following it.
Requesting comment on the issue, a DFE spokesman told The Telegraph:
All students and staff should be safe and protected in schools and not face violence or abuse.
The Education Secretary has made it clear that school leaders expect to implement good behavior and we are committed to a comprehensive program of school behavior support.
Preschool predators
After the first story was released, an official spokesman for Prime Minister Kiel Starmer told the paper:
“People and staff should never be subject to abuse,” he added. “However, the actions taken to tackle the action should also be proportional.”
However, school discipline for such crimes is increasing. “The number of students suspended or expelled due to homophobic or transphobic behavior in all state primary schools has increased from 164 in 2021-22 to 178 in 2022-23.”
Additionally, the mirror was reported in February:
The number of cases of children sent home for sexual assault or harassment of a classmate has more than doubled in a year.
Even primary schools had 618 suspensions in 2023 due to sexual misconduct.
This is partly the result of ubiquitous smartphones and sexualisation of children, partly committed by people who punish them to act on what they were taught.
But 4 years old? Walden wrote skeptical:
What we “disturb” here – distorted to a disgusting, dishonest, shameful, negetic level, not the three-year-old “Transforbe” or the four-year-old “Pedator”, but adults who can project these concepts, stories and beliefs onto their children. And why are multiple of these freaks out there? These people so far are on par with members of the cult who claim that newborn babies must cleanse evil. So there is no doubt about their loyalty to the “cause.”
Furthermore, she argues that “cult” will improve mental health for children who “transition” but “what is the interesting, what is going to expel a 6-year-old child for “branding transphobic” or “sexual harassment”? “I insisted.
Drop out the bees
Of course, UK children have not been kicked out of schools for these crimes alone. In fact, cessation and expulsion have been rising rapidly in recent years for all sorts of reasons. According to the telegraph:
Between 2022 and 23, 787,221 students were suspended across schools in England, with more than doubled in 2016-17.
Of these, approximately 84,339 are elementary school students, an increase of 31% from 64,337.
The number of students facing permanent exclusions rose by 21% between 2022 and 23 to 9,377, but the number of key students excluded during that period fell by 4.2%.
Clearly, UK schools face serious behavioral problems. If they reduce the time to punish students for their thinking, they may be able to make some progress in controlling actual crime.
