Joe Biden's statements Monday after the Madison, Wisconsin, school shooting reveal how out of touch he and his anti-gun policies are with reality.
The reality is, as of early Wednesday morning, not much is known. The gunman, Natalie “Samantha” Lupnow, was 15 years old when she took her own life during the attack at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. She used a handgun. A teacher and a student were killed, and six others were injured, two of them seriously.
She seemed like a pawn in a war between her parents, who married, divorced, and remarried, resulting in Natalie moving between separate households almost every day. And she left a trail on social media that “experts” are now trying to decipher and determine her motive.
ban them all
Biden, on the other hand, wants to ban all “assault” weapons (i.e. semi-automatic rifles) and so-called high-capacity magazines. He wants a national red flag law. He wants universal background checks for all firearms transactions in the country.
Biden's pointless rant calls for “congressional action.” now. “
With the president-elect replacing Biden in January, his policies have become tired and now irrelevant. Still, he pressed on. He denounced the “scourge of gun violence” and touted the anti-gun White House Gun Violence Prevention Office, which ends on January 20, 2025. He said:
But more is needed. Congress must pass common sense gun safety laws: universal background checks. National red flag law. Banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
unrelated
As if any of these violations of sacred constitutional rights would affect the outcome in Madison, Wisconsin on Monday. For example, federal and state laws already prohibit 15-year-olds from owning firearms. Since the shooter was using a handgun, the ban on rifles and their magazines would not have prevented the shooting. A background check wouldn't have helped. And because even her family and friends didn't suspect anything was wrong until Monday's shooting, the National Red Flag Act would not have been invoked.
But it doesn't matter. Any excuse to advance an anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment agenda is helpful.
Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, accused Biden of being prepared to use the shooting incident to promote anti-shooting policies.
Joe Biden knows that 15-year-olds cannot legally purchase a handgun anywhere in this country, so calls for background checks are pointless.
Since police have recovered the handgun used in the shooting, calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and their magazines is also misplaced and disingenuous. Indeed, such demands highlight just how irrelevant Joe Biden and his anti-gun policies have become…
While we join all Americans in deploring this horrific crime, attempting to punish all law-abiding citizens who own or someday wish to purchase firearms will only undo the tragedy. You can't. Mr. Biden and his fellow gun prohibitionists all know that even if all the laws he now wants to pass were already in place, they would not have prevented what happened in Madison.
It would be disingenuous to suggest otherwise, but of course honesty is hardly a hallmark of the Biden administration.
January 20, 2025 can't come soon enough. From that day forward, this miserable, anti-American regime will happily fade into historical worthlessness. The new administration will work to repair the damage done to the republic over the past four years.
